The North Shore Nine crew returned with a postgame show that captured the mood of a deflated fan base after the Pirates dropped their home opener 9-4 to the New York Yankees. Jim and Doug unpacked a game that quickly went south — Mitch Keller struggled with command from the start, and the Pirates never recovered. The crowd let their voices be heard early with “sell the team” chants and even a few fans donning paper bags by the second inning.

Despite the lopsided loss, there were some silver linings. Bryan Reynolds and Ke’Bryan Hayes both homered, while Andrew McCutchen had a three-hit night and made a strong defensive play in right field. The guys also praised Justin Lawrence’s nasty sweeper and discussed the early promise shown by a few bullpen arms. Still, the tone was one of frustration as the Pirates fell to 2-6 on the season — with fans already feeling like this season is spiraling.
